Second Semester Beginning Greek, a continuation of GRE 1130.  We will complete the rest of the grammar about mid-term, using Chase and Phillips up throught Lesson 33.  We will then abandon the sequence in C & P, and spend the rest of the semester in a reader, Freeman & Lowe, A Greek Reader for Schools.  We will pick up the rest of C & P as we go along, when the reading includes material from those lessons.  In the reader, we will do an Aesop's fable or two, a little Herodotus and a little Plato.  But most of the time will be spent reading the satirist Lucian, whose Greek is very simple and has all the basic constructions—and is very, very funny.

There will be several serious quizzes along the way (4 or so) and a final.
