LAT 6425 Latin Prose Composition

Announcements:

- Class meeting time is Monday, 8:00-10:00 p.m. (Eastern Time). 

- Classes will meet in Elluminate.  A link will be emailed to students a few days prior to each class; you will use this link to access the weekly Elluminate session. (see Elluminate link at left for more information.)

- Enrollment will not be accepted after Week 3. You must be enrolled in the UF Classics distance-learning graduate program to take this class.



 Textbooks:

 - Required: Readings and Exercises in Latin Prose Composition: From Antiquity to the Renaissance.  Milena Minkova and Terence Tunberg.  Focus Publishing: Newburyport, Mass. 2004.

 

- Recommended: Allen and Greenough's New Latin Grammar (available as free download at http://www.textkit.com/latin_grammar.php)

 

- Recommended: Bradley's Arnold Latin Prose Composition (see description of latest edition at http://www.bolchazy.com/prod.php?cat=latin&id=5955.  If you don't have this already, don't bother paying $39 for it.)



 Grading: Grades will be based on completion of group assignments and class participation (which includes critiquing of other groups' assignments).  Attendance is necessary for the success of this class; please notify me if you anticipate a class absence.

   90-100     A

   88-89       B+

   80-87       B

   78-79       C+

   70-77       C

   68-69       D+

   60-67       D

   0-59         F
