Acceptance Criteria - Cambridge Program
Students are often curious and sometimes anxious about the selection process for the Cambridge Program.  Rightly so.  But there are actually no mysteries involved.  Acceptance is based on traditional academic criteria, the same considerations used elsewhere at the University of Florida for admittance to academic Programs, Departments, and Colleges and for Undergraduate Fellowships and Awards.  Selection is made without concern for race, religion, national origin, gender, age, or any similar consideration.  Selections are made by the Director and Academic Advisor of the Cambridge Program on the basis of academic potential and academic merit.  Every effort is taken to make fair selections.  If you wish to discuss the criteria please do not hesitate to contact the Director of the Program or the Program Academic Advisor.  The following guidelines do not appear in ranked order:
  • Academic Year (Sophomore, Junior, Senior)
  • Grade Point Average (Traditionally, 3.0 GPA)
  • Personal Statement (judged on form, content, persuasiveness, creativity, etc.)
  • Letters of Recommendation (from academic faculty)
  • Other academic, intellectual, & institutional factors as appropriate
