Paul Ruggiers died 8 April 1998.

He was the founder of Pilgrim Books. I was, in the early 80s, the beneficiary of both his generosity and his professionalism. The latter was as vigorous and exacting as the former was deep and compassionate.

I will always remember him as a fine scholar and a good friend.
