We will be reading selections from a
variety of Greek poets from the Archaic through the Hellenistic
periods. The texts will
deal with one of the most memorable figures from Greek mythology, the
Cyclops. Our goal is to be able to render ancient Greek accurately into
English, and to appreciate each author’s style as well as the
historical and cultural significance of the texts. PLEASE NOTE: READINGS
FOR THIS CLASS ARE IN ANCIENT GREEK. ALL STUDENTS MUST HAVE COMPLETED
AT LEAST TWO YEARS OF ANCIENT GREEK LANGUAGE.
