Our group is attempting to examine economy and tourism in the Yucatan. We will do this by researching three case studies. These will describe the effects on formal/informal economics in the following areas: Dzitnup, Coba, Mérida, Chiapas, the Caribbean, and other destinations on our excursions. We will interview various people, including residents and vendors, use texts from the library and newspapers. Despite our choice of sites, we will look at the effects of NAFTA and the maquiadoras, child labor and tourism (positive and negative influences and opinions).
