Head of the CLAS

Kristin M. DetwilerKristin Detwiler

Kristin M. Detwiler is the 2004-2005 president of the CLAS Student Council (CLASSC) and was named a UF Outstanding Female Leader. A chemistry and criminology double major, she has concentrated her extracurricular involvement on improving the academic system at UF. In addition to her CLASSC involvement, she has served as treasurer of the Board of College Councils. Holding a near-perfect 3.97 GPA, Detwiler is a McLaughlin Scholar and has been inducted into Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Kappa Phi honor societies. She also has been named a Garnett Wilson Randall Scholar by her sorority, Phi Mu.

Active in Student Government, Detwiler has served as associate party chair of academic organizations for the Gator Party. She works for Ocean Optics, Inc. and after graduating this spring she will attend law school at Georgetown University.

“My favorite part about the University of Florida has been the atmosphere on campus,” she says. “Despite the fact that we have more than 48,000 students, UF still feels like a small university to me. I can't walk through campus without seeing somebody that I know and, no matter what seems to be going on, there remains an overwhelming sense of pride by the students that they attend this school. It's definitely been the people here that have made my time at UF so memorable, and it's those people that I'll miss the most.”
