January

On December 11, 2012 Keith Bullivant, German Professor Emeritus of Languages, Literatures and Cultures gave an invited public lecture at the University of Essen on "Im Spannungsfeld zwischen Literaturtheorie und Literaturbetrieb: Zur Singularität des deutschen Romans" (Caught in the crossfire between literary theory and and literary criticism: the singularity of the German novel.)

Psychology Assistant Professor Natalie C. Ebner received the new CTSI Pilot Project Award for her Junior Faculty Project "Neuro-Behavioral Effects of Oxytocin on Decisions of Trust in Aging."

The UF CTSI's most recent round of one-year intramural pilot grants provides approximately $250,000 in support of 14 projects led by investigators from six colleges. CTSI Pilot Project Awards support the growth of interdisciplinary and investigator-initiated research and provide three categories of support: trainee, junior faculty and novel methods and technologies. Areas of special interest for this round of awards included collaborations with the CTSI Biorepository and the CTSI Human Imaging Core.

August

R. Allen Shoaf, Professor of English, has been publishing his thoughtful and innovative poetry and images on BestThinking for several years now. This has resulted in an impressive body of work enabling them to make August R. Allen Shoaf Poetry Month.

Each day in August they will be featuring one of his poems and images on the top of the Arts & Entertainment home page. They will also be featuring his new book Pied-Piper Philology: Love Words. See his bio on the BestThinking website.
