I am an English major who decided to teach. Teaching middle school is such an experience. My hobbies are reading, sewing, and surfing the Internet. Mother of two-- Brendien- 31, Courtney- 19. Three grandchildren-- 12, 3, and 1. Hobbies-- sewing, quilting, needlepoint, cooking/ baking-- small business, "Make it or Bake it." I do a lot of business during the holidays, as well as wedding cakes. I have been teaching two years in the middle school. This will be my first year in high school inclusion. I am 38; I am married with one daughter. I was born in Michigan but have lived in GA and NC also. I attended Winston-Salem State University. I love to travel and go to places using back roads. I love Disney-- Epcot is my favorite park. I would really like to travel overseas one day and would love to see England. I majored in history because I enjoy finding out about how people lived their lives. I don't really care about the political side but enjoy finding those little things about people and places which textbooks leave out. I collect teapots and trolls and would like to go to Norway one day also. I teach technology to K-8 which is wonderful because I have no curriculum, so I can do whatever with the class. - Diane Schrier

After 20 years as a book editor, I made a career change to teaching. I have never looked back! Four years now into teaching a hybrid "Global Studies" course-- English, Geography, and World Cultures-- to 7th graders. I am looking forward to immersing myself in the integration of Asian Studies into my curriculum.
