2005-06 Lectures/Events

The Asian Studies Program at the University of Florida announces a Call for Proposals for Lectures/Events relating to contemporary arts and scholarship on Asia. Faculty in any discipline or UF department are eligible to invite top scholars and artists in their field to UF for a public lecture or demonstration. We provide substantial support for travel, lodging, and honorarium, with the stipulation that the event explore and stimulate dialogue on Asia from the perspective of your field.

Proposals should be concise (1-2 pages plus budget), and include the following:

  • Description of the event; tentative dates;
  • Highlight curriculum vitae of invited guest(s), significance of their work in your field, whether you have made preliminary contact;
  • Indication of how this event will be publicized/made accessible to the larger UF community;
  • Itemized budget including airfare, hotel, desired honorarium, including source of estimate;
  • Indication of support received from your home department.

Proposals should be addressed to Director, Asian Studies Program, Attention Lectures/Events, 3312 Turlington Hall, Gainesville, FL 32611-7365, and will be reviewed on a rolling basis beginning October 30, 2005 . It is anticipated that events will be scheduled for Spring and Fall 2006, however, if you would like to rush a proposal for Fall 2005, or would like more details on the scope and intent of the awards, contact the Director at the Asian Studies Office (392-4619).
